Chapter 12 — Pets & Animals
Why does my cat knead me?
It's a kittenhood leftover — kittens knead to stimulate their mother's milk. Adults do it when content, marking you with scent glands in their paws. It's a compliment.
Follow-up questions
Why do cats purr?
Contentment, but also self-soothing when injured or stressed. The frequency (~25–50 Hz) may promote healing.
Why does my cat bring me dead things?
Either sharing a kill with a family member, or teaching you to hunt because you're clearly inept.
Why do cats hate closed doors?
Territorial mapping — a closed door is a room they can't verify. It's about knowledge, not the room.
Do cats actually love their owners?
Yes — studies show cats form secure attachments similar to dogs and infants, they just express it more subtly.
