How do I jump-start a car?
Red to the dead battery's positive, red to the good battery's positive, black to the good negative, and black to bare metal on the dead car's engine block — never its negative terminal. Run the working car for a few minutes, then start the dead one.

At least 20–30 minutes of driving, ideally not all at idle, so the alternator can put meaningful charge back in.
Why won't my car start after a jump?
If it clicks, the battery is likely dead beyond recovery or the connection is poor; if it cranks but doesn't fire, suspect fuel, starter, or ignition rather than the battery.
How long does a car battery last?
Typically three to five years, shorter in very hot climates and with lots of short journeys.
Can you jump-start an electric car?
You can jump the 12V accessory battery in an EV, but you must never use an EV to jump another car — its DC-DC converter isn't designed for it.
