Chapter 08 — Home & Car
How do I stop shrinking my clothes?
Wash cold, tumble dry low or hang dry, and read the label — anything wool, cashmere, or 'do not tumble dry' means it. Heat is what shrinks fibres; agitation is what felts wool.
Follow-up questions
Cold vs warm wash?
Cold works for 90% of laundry, saves energy, and protects colours. Warm/hot for bedding, towels, and heavily soiled items.
Do dryer sheets damage clothes?
They coat fabric with softener, which can reduce absorbency of towels and clog activewear. Wool dryer balls are a cleaner alternative.
How often to wash jeans?
Every 5–10 wears unless visibly dirty. Air them between wears and spot-clean.
Why do whites go grey?
Under-dosed detergent, over-loaded machine, or washing whites with colours. Occasional oxygen bleach restores them.
